Recession is the Right Time for Education

During tough economic times, there is a global increase in demand for higher education.  As white collar jobs are eliminated due to cutbacks, there is a natural gravitation towards education.  New York University's Stern School of Business saw a 20% increase in applications in 2008.

In fact, the Graduate Management Admissions Council report reports that 77% of full-time graduate business programs say applications jumped last year.  Perhaps the most impressive figure is that a record 264,641 people took the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), the standardized test that most institutions use to select candidates, in 2008.

The same trends are true in Croatia.  Students and professionals that are finding themselves unemployed are looking at continuing their education.  After all, once the economy recovers, those with graduate degrees will be positioned to take jobs with greater responsibility and higher pay.
