International Kindergarten Horizons Celebrates Diversity
The International Kindergarten Horizons, located in Zagreb, brings a global perspective to everyday learning. The English-speaking kindergarten incorporates cultural awareness into the academic program. “Multicultural learning is the core of our work at International Kindergarten Horizons throughout the year. Children are introduced to different festivals and costumes from cultures all over the world,” said Principal Milena Prodanić Tišma.
The children have participated in workshops and celebrations of Diwali, Chinese New Year, Danish Royalty, Guy Fawkes, and Christmas. Through fun and games, children learn to accept all people and to respect differences in skin color, religion, and culture.
"The knowledge, love and respect that children get through different workshops and celebrations of various cultures enables them to live with all people in peace and in harmony, preventing prejudice and becoming citizens of the world," said teacher Irena Šimić.
Since it is located in Croatia’s political and cultural capital, Horizons truly delivers an international experience for the young children. Small class sizes of 8-11 students per certified teacher create an safe and productive learning environment.
